Anti-wrinkle Injections

Botulinum Toxin type A anti-wrinkle treatments are highly effective at improving the appearance of lines on the face.  It is also used for many other indications as well as facial wrinkles including management of chronic migraine, teeth grinding (Temporomandibular joint dysfunction) and excessive sweating.

Botulinum Toxin works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that cause muscle contractions. It is used to relax specific muscles under the skin to treat facial wrinkles, improve facial symmetry and proportion and also reduce bulky muscles such as the jaw muscles- (masseter muscle).

The active ingredient (the toxin) is a protein complex derived from Clostridium Botulinum. Nerve endings at neuromuscular junctions will temporarily stop responding to nerve impulses. This results in a smoother appearance of the overlying skin.

Facial lines and wrinkles

Vertical lines between the eyebrows seen at maximum frown and/or Fan-shaped lines (crows feet) from the corner of the eyes seen at maximum smile and/or, Forehead lines seen at maximum raised eyebrows.

Platysmal bands (vertical neck lines)

Botulinum Toxin can be used for the treatment of vertical (not horizontal) bands that appear in the neck when the platysma muscle is contracted.

Bunny lines (nose lines)

Lines that appear on the side / top of the nose can in some people be present only on mild animation and can therefore be treated alone or in conjunction with glabellar (frown) lines and crow’s feet injections.

Gummy Smile

Botulinum is used to stop the gums being visible at rest and / or during smile.

Cobblestone Chin

A dimpled chin is the result of hyperactive contraction of the mentalis muscle and Botulinum injections can make the area smoother and stop scarring on the front of the chin and protrusion of the chin muscle which can affect the shape of the lower third of the face.
